What we've been working on
Jobs from the shop and the docks. Boats are described by type only, never by name.

Hull damage from an impact
This boat came in with the hull broken through near the bow cleat after an impact. We cut the damaged laminate back to sound material, laid up new glass, then faired and refinished the side to match the rest of the hull.

Window replacement
New windows on a sailboat. The old ones came out, the openings were cleaned up and prepped, and the new windows were set in place.

House and start bank rewire
The battery wiring on this boat had been added to over the years until it was hard to follow. We drew the system out first, then rewired the house and start banks with new cables, fuses and bus bars, laid out so every connection can be reached and checked.

A 3D-printed helm pod
A new helm pod for a sailboat's steering pedestal. It holds the compass, a B&G chartplotter and the autopilot keypad. We drew it to fit the pedestal and the gear, printed it in the shop, finished it, and wired everything on the bench before it went aboard. Testing on the bench is a lot easier than testing upside down behind a helm.

Rotted hatch openings rebuilt
The old hatch openings on this sailboat had rotted out under the frames. We cut them back to sound material, rebuilt the edges, then bedded and sealed the new hatches.

Hull damage and a new forward bulkhead
This one started with a hole in the topsides near the bow. Once we opened it up, the structure in the forward cabin behind it needed replacing too.
We cut out the damaged laminate and pulled core samples to see how far the damage went. The new bulkhead and panels were cut on the CNC, then glassed in. We finished the forward cabin before the boat went back in the water.

Rebuilding a bow
This sailboat's bow was damaged badly enough that it had to be rebuilt. We cut away the damaged section, back to sound material, and rebuilt the bow under a tent at the yard so the glass and fairing could cure out of the weather.

Bumpers for a self-tacking jib track
Custom end bumpers for a self-tacking jib track. We drew them around a scan of the track ends, 3D printed them in black to match the track, and fitted them on the boat where the car meets the end of its travel.

Custom cabin windows
New cabin side windows for a sailboat. We drew them to fit the openings, cut them from sheet on the CNC, painted the borders on the bench, and dry-fitted them on the boat before they went in for good.

Trawler interior joinery
Repairs and new pieces in a trawler's teak interior: a new cabinet under the windows, the stair rail, cabinet corners and patches in the parquet sole. New parts were milled in the shop to match the profiles already on the boat, then fitted and finished aboard.

Custom mahogany spreaders
New wooden spreaders for a sailboat mast. The old spreader ends had broken down where they sit in the mast fittings. We drew new ones to fit the fittings, cut them from mahogany on the CNC, and fitted them to the mast at the dock.

New hatches fitted with custom molds
When the old hatches came out, the openings had rot in them. We made molds for new hatch flanges, laid up the flanges in the shop, sealed the openings so water can't reach the core, and bedded the new hatches.
